Dom Pod Lipami, eco guest house in Blatnica, Slovakia

Dom Pod Lipami is situated in a peaceful location in the “gateway” to the Gaderska and Blatnicka Valleys. It is positioned under old lime trees on former farm land in the quiet outskirts of Blatnica village with nice views over the mountains of Martinske Hole, Ostra and Tlsta.

Set on a large plot, the guesthouse has its own outside seating area that is surrounded by a 2 year old garden which took inspiration from the local flora heritage. It is planted with young fruit trees, different hedges, roses and variety of flowers.
Old folklore furniture and the use of traditional local architecture in combination with modern design give a great character to this wooden guest house.
The eco message is reflected by the usage of natural materials such as straw bales for insulation together with a traditional “pec” wood burner.

The guest house was built as a bioclimatic structure, with larger south facing and smaller north facing windows to aid heat absorption and reduce heat loss. Straw bale insulation and triple glazing helps to keep the property warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The water supply comes from a well. Wood used in the construction was spruce and red spruce, the external wood being untreated, the interior wood protected with linseed oil and beeswax. To make your stay more comfortable the beds have very good quality mattresses and bedding.

The guest house is suitable for short breaks, walking holidays, business trips or longer stays. Ideally located for visits to the nearby cities of Martin, Zilina, Banska Stiavnica and to explore the Slovak cultural heritage in the Skanzens (Slovak Village Museums), old wooden churches, castles, caves and spa towns famous for their natural springs. You can set off straight from the house on the many walking and cycling trails that run all the way to our doorstep.
It is not suitable for wheelchair access and you will need a car if you do not want to rely on buses or trains. Lastly, the accommodation is on a self catering basis, but as we live next door we are there to help you with whatever you may need.

So whether you prefer to just chill out or head off for exciting excursions, our guest house provides a perfect starting point and we'll be pleased to offer advice on how to make the most of your time.
